The end of the Civil rights coalition in the Democrat party
The election this year is likely to see the end of the civil rights coalition within the Democrat party as it is. I’ll explain why.
If Hillary Clinton manages to somehow pull off a win and be the nominee this fall, the use of her race tactics to attack Obama will drive Black Americans away from the Democrat party. I am not saying they will go to the Republican party. But they will definitely feel disenfranchised. I don’t think they will go back to the Democrat party like they always have. At least not at the full strength they once were. If Hillary wins, there is a strong argument that the Democrats are worse at racism then the Republicancs ever were.
On the other hand, if Obama wins, they run into a different problem. Even if he loses the general election, he will have demonstrated that Blacks don’t need politicians to get ahead in life. Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and all of their type who have their positions of power specifically to stir up resentment because of race will lose all relevance. Exactly what will they have to strive for that they havent already achieved?
Either way the Democrat party will not be the same in the future. Unfortunately, the Republican party might not be either.
